For kids, occupations include play, socialization, self-care, and school performance. Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on helping children gain the skills needed for these daily occupations. Occupational therapy uses purposeful goal-directed activities to improve a child’s performance in a variety of areas (fine and visual-motor skills, self-help skills, postural stability, sensory integration, motor planning, coordination, social interactions, and play abilities). I graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Midwestern University with a Master of Occupational Therapy(MOT). In addition to being an Occupational Therapist, I am also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Prior to starting Tewmey OT, I worked in a variety of pediatric settings including early intervention, outpatient clinics, and the school system. I have completed additional training in sensory integration, SOS feeding and reflex integration.
